Frequently Asked Questions

05. How many governors should make up the disciplinary and dismissal committee and disciplinary and dismissal appeals committee?

Each staff disciplinary and dismissal committee is normally made up of a minimum of three governors (with no more than five members). It is strongly recommended that committee membership is an odd number to ensure that there is always a majority for any vote on a decision. A majority vote is better than a committee chair having a casting vote.

The disciplinary and dismissal appeal committee cannot have fewer governors than the first committee.
