How long should governing body minutes be kept?
There is no statutory requirement regarding the length of time that governing body minutes are kept. Some governing bodies may keep the minutes:
- for a “reasonable” time to allow for inspections, for example, auditors need to be able to inspect relevant minutes when auditing the school’s finances. Equally, Estyn look at minutes of the governing body or committee meetings when they carry out their inspection of the school, which takes place every six years.
