A parent has received an outcome of their complaint at Stage C and the letter states that there is no appeal. Is this right?

The governing body’s complaints committee is the final arbiter of complaints. The advice from Governors Wales and Welsh Government is that the school does not have an appeal after Stage C, that said, some schools do offer an appeal. Section 5 of the Welsh Government guidance on School Governing Body Complaints procedures references the role of the following in school based complaints:

  • Local Authority
  • Diocesan Authority
  • Welsh Government
  • The Children’s Commissioner for Wales
  • The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales
  • The Education Workforce Council
