Frequently Asked Questions

Does the chair of the complaints committee meet with the complainants following the complaints meeting to inform them of the outcome?

The complaints committee, following deliberation, must write to the complainants with the outcome of the complaint. This should be done as soon as possible after the meeting has taken place, and certainly no longer than what is stated on the complaints procedure. The letter should explain the reasons for the decision and any action to be taken by the school. If the complaint is not upheld the letter should make clear:

  • that the complaint has been thoroughly considered;
  • the school will not reconsider the complaint;
  • new issues will only be considered if they are clearly different from matters complained about already.
