Engaging with parents - role of the governing body

Governing bodies and schools are publicly accountable to parents, the LA and the local community for what they do, for the results they achieve and for the way in which the resources are managed.

Parental involvement has a positive and significant effect has on children’s educational attainment and schools recognise this. To be effective schools need to identify innovative and creative ways to involve parents and carers in their child’s education and to motivate them to support learning at home and to support the school.
